Chain Drug Review - Lilly Ups Support for Evista

INDIANAPOLIS — Eli Lilly and Co. is providing additional support for Evista, its osteoporosis preventive, by reorganizing its pharmaceutical sales force.
Evista, known generically as raloxifene hydrochloride, is marketed for the prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
The change for the sales unit, expected to take effect next month, will increase the number of representatives detailing the drug and will enable them to call on primary care providers, rheumatologists and endocrinologists in addition to obstetricians and gynecologists.

“Our experience this year has demonstrated that physicians, armed with comprehensive data on Evista and the benefits of selective estrogens, are highly motivated to prescribe Evista to prevent osteoporosis in women,” says Alan Clark, president of U.S. operations and global marketing. “This realignment will enable us to reach more health care providers across a broader spectrum of specialty areas and ultimately more women who can benefit from Evista.”
